Greetings from
Isao Kikuchi, SVD, Catholic Archbishop of Tokyo

26 Catholics were executed 5th February 1597 in Nagasaki
and Canonized on 8 June 1862.
26 Holy Martyrs (St. Paul Miki and companions)
are the patron Saints of Honjo Catholic Church.

The feast day has been celebrated every year for quite some time.
Mass was celebrated in Japanese with some Latin prayers and Gregorian Chant.
I also had a chance to share my thoughts after the Mass.

When I was a seminarian, we used to come to join the Mass to show our gratitud
e to then parish priest, late Fr. Shimoyama who had supported the formation of
SVD priests in Nagoya at that time.

Isao Kikuchi, SVD, Catholic Archbishop of Tokyo
